When Morgane Sézalory asked me to do a series of profiles for the organizations supported by the DEMAIN Social Impact Program, I didn’t really think about the significance of the assignment. I assumed it would be just another job. But nothing about the people I met turned out to be ordinary.
I met the founders of organizations that are truly moving mountains. Each of them impressed me with their unwavering commitment, determination, and charisma. They also showed me that a sense of community can thrive even in a world dominated by ego. Their belief in community is so strong that it draws the best people around them.
This project sparked my interest in nonprofits. Growing up, my parents always taught me to respect others and help family and friends, but I don’t remember them getting actively involved in causes. Morgane, however, has a different background. She was raised with the belief that everyone can make a difference in their own way to counter inequality. With this mindset, she launched the DEMAIN social impact program, convinced that a series of concrete actions could open doors to education and culture for a variety of children. Two years later, the results speak for themselves: thanks to your incredible support for our solidarity initiatives, we’ve already raised two million euros.
These encounters and the influence of these people made me reflect. Suddenly, commitment felt natural, and I now want to align my actions with my values. Until then, I hadn’t had examples in my life to encourage me to get involved, and I often felt like I didn’t have enough time. But now, I’m working on my own project. Commitment comes with responsibility. I’ve reached out to several organizations, but most follow the school calendar and don’t take on new volunteers mid-year. For now, I’m staying patient. Since I know that soon—tomorrow, even—I’ll be doing my part.
